Spindles: Pyrography Spindle

In keeping with Tom’s passion for beautiful and unique spinning tools, he has designed a variety of exquisite hand spindles in which he has used a special tool to “burn” designs (called pyography) into the whorl. Each design has a minimum of 300 free-hand, hand burned strokes to create this effect. Due to the individual handwork required to create these designs no two are alike and are made in limited quantities. The following designs are available in this series:

These spindles are guaranteed to entice you to spin. The Temptress has a lathe-turned whorl of laminated exotic and domestic woods revealing the colours of the woods in a circular pattern. The Tempter has a lathe-turned whorl of laminated exotic and domestic woods revealing the beauty of the woods in a vertical stripe pattern. Both spindles are rim loaded for increased spin duration, and have a notch behind the closed side of the swan-neck hook. They also have a fancy turned shaft. These spindles are true to the Forrester tradition of a unique one-of-a-kind hand spindle that is destined to become an heirloom.
